Thirty six cars were involved in a multi-car pile up that happened on February 10, at 12:40 P.M., that killed one and injured almost two dozen more. The accident occurred on 390 South near Scottsville Road in Vermont.

More than 20 people were taken to local hospitals. One woman who was a passenger in one of the cars was killed. She has been identified as Lee Gno, 19. Several other people incurred serious injuries. A Strong Memorial Hospital spokesman said five were in guarded condition and four were listed as satisfactory.

A number of ambulances were also sent to the scene and the injured were taken to various local hospitals as part of a mass casualty plan that first responders have in place. The injured were taken to Strong, Park Ridge and Highland Hospitals.

The accident also caused problems on 390 northbound. The accident was probably related to poor visibility because of the wind and snow. Many drivers stopped on the highway because they couldn’t see where they were going.
